In a nutshell?
Curious about everything in the world, studied engineer, 40 years of age, Early Music performer, language enthusiast.
Having learned to read at the age of four, I have been living on a steady diet of several books per week for most of my life. And as a true son of a technically oriented family I developed a high interest in all things man-made. Not surprisingly, this fact made me choose technical studies. After completing my degree in electronics from Silesian Technical University I worked in several occupations, either in industry or at the university: as a designer in the area of railway safety systems, as a teacher and researcher as well as a systems administrator, the latter three all at university level.
While in themselves interesting, none of these professions could fully satisfy my inborn curiosity and love for variety in the daily challenges. Through some good luck (and the suggestion of one of my co-workers at the university) I tried my hand at something that combined my technical interests with my love for languages that had steadily grown in many years of book reading, both in English and Polish: translations, be they technical or in other fields I had collected expertise meanwhile. A side occupation for the first few years, I finally decided that this profession fitted my set of skills and interests best, turning it into my full-time job almost ten years ago. And have not looked back ever since.
